Belana’s branded products were the first in Bulgaria to be granted, by the Ministry of Environment and Water, with the right to use the EU Ecolabel. Belana’s branded products fall under the category “tissue paper” and the ecological criteria to be met are set out in Commission Decision № 2009/568 / EC of 9 July 2009 and applied to the entire production cycle – from the receipt of raw materials at the plant to the winding of the paper rolls. The particular criteria aim to:
- Reduce the release of toxic or eutrophic substances into waters
- Reduce energy consumption and related emissions into the air
- Reduce environmental impact or health risks associated with the use of hazardous chemicals
- Promote the use of paper fibers produced in a sustainable way
- Apply the principles of Forest Sustainability Management
The EU Ecolabel is a voluntary commitment that focuses on the production and consumption of products and services with a reduced negative impact on the environment, health, climate and natural resources. EU Ecolabel logo signage on packaging assures consumers that the specific products have been produced achieving the highest environmental performance in the EU market, enabling them to recognize and choose “green products”. Belana branded products, being awarded with the EU Ecolabel, are an environmentally friendly choice, always there for you to accommodate your everyday needs. Therefore, Belana products are giving the opportunity to consumers to contribute to environmental sustainability, without them having to change their daily routine and habits. Belana is empowering consumers not only to develop environmental awareness, but also to practically participate in the efforts for a better future.
