RENTING VS OWNING IN THE GREEK REAL ESTATE MARKET

The question of whether to rent or own property remains one of the most important decisions for both individuals and businesses. While market conditions continue to evolve, the answer is rarely straightforward.

In a recent article published in Fortune Greece, Dimitris Zeritis, General Manager of Zeritis Group, explains that the decision should not be based on a single factor, but on a broader assessment of the economic environment, market conditions, and the specific needs of each individual or organisation.

The article highlights eight key considerations that influence this decision: interest rates, political and economic stability, location, property condition, negotiation terms, liquidity, risk appetite, and flexibility. Rather than promoting ownership or renting as the universally better option, it demonstrates that each case requires its own evaluation.

For businesses in particular, liquidity and operational flexibility often play a central role in real estate strategy. Maintaining the ability to adapt to changing business needs can, in many cases, be just as important as owning the underlying asset.
